Wednesday 5 September is National Reading Day, and our class is getting involved in a very special way!

The Podkids will be working with Elaine Forrestal, author of the award-winning book ‘Someone Like Me’ to produce book reports that will be read by students all around Australia.

Elaine’s novel has been selected as one of five books that will be read by students all over the country. Our class will be reading the book early and producing on-line chapter summaries that will be available for other students to read and comment on. Elaine herself will be viewing the site and responding to the children’s posts. On 31 August, Elaine will visit the classroom and be interviewed for a podcast that will be released as part of National Reading Day.

The folks over at Apple have been very supportive of the Podkids over the years. Recently, they wrote this great case study talking about how we use Apple technology to make our podcasts. Check it out!

Our teacher, Mr Fuller, was recently interviewed on the Web2Learn webcast. He talked about why we make a podcast in our class, and what we are learning. You can listen to the interview at http://www.webcastacademy.net/node/159
